Couple Looking Down

Patchwork Marriage

Tales of Basting Twill no.4

By F. Jane O'Brien

Chapter One

Chadrick Pitstone III sat for a moment in his Porsche Carrera after he pulled into the garage behind his new home. He was about to start a new phase of his life; hopefully it would be a good phase. But it was all due to Alicia, the worst of the self-centred, conniving women who had ever crossed his path. To say he hated women would be an exaggeration, but it was true he did his best to avoid them. He loved his mother dearly and he liked his housekeeper, Mrs. Drill, enormously. He chose his employees carefully and respected those women who worked for him; it was not by chance most were middle-aged or older. There was no question that as a consultant in Internal Medicine he worked tirelessly to improve the health of the men and women who sought his help and no prejudice influenced his behaviour towards his female patients.
