Tales of Basting Twill no.3

By F. Jane O'Brien

Chapter One

“Are you sure you'll be all right on your own today, darling?” Blossom Meekly asked as she checked her purse for her gloves and reading spectacles. Seraphina handed her mother a handkerchief and reassured her, “Of course, I will, Mother. I'll keep so busy I won't notice you and Daddy aren't here.” Seraphina, though she looked much younger than her twenty-four years, was highly capable and managed the housekeeping and family finances with only minor help from her parents. She would quite enjoy going about the tasks of the day without distractions from her sweetly ineffectual mother and otherworldly father.
